People have to deal with rubbish. Rubbish is an environmental problem. The environment is the world around you and me. Rubbish is a wrapping or old piece of plastic. Firstly rubbish looks like food to an animal. The animal eats it up and the rubbish will block up their stocahe, and so their dead.  You can help the poor animals by picking up your rubbish and putting it in the bin. Secondly some good people recycle. By recycling you stop tons of rubbish going to landfill. Landfill is a huge hole in the ground that all your goes into. Landfill is not at all good for the environment because it is full of plastic and is degradable which means it won’t rot away. Thirdly, people burn where rubbish. That means they are releasing gases into the atmosphere and the gas are also speeding up global warming. Which is some of the air pollution and is all so the smoke from the fire is bad for your lungs. So there you have it rubish is a very bad problem. So if you put your rubbish in the bin,start recycling and stop burning rubbish we will have a healthy planet.

We have been using Pear Deck to help us learn more about sentence structure so that we can get better at noticing where one sentence ends and another one begins. This should also help us get better scores for punctuation. This a screenshot of an activity we did: first we had to highlight the noun and verb parts of the sentences and then we had to decide where the full stops and capital letters should go.

Whoohoo!! Term 3

Sweet!! Term 3 has arrived and my classmates and me are back at school for another term full of learning. I'm very refreshed after a two week holiday. In the holidays I did heaps of stuff, but one of my highlights would have to be going to my aunty and uncle's farm. It's the best time of year to go because it's calving season which means I get a pet calf but at the moment I don't get one because I already have two rabbits. Their names are Caramel and Ash. In the calf shed I have a connection with this  black calf I named Pepper. I am looking forward to the term ahead of us. On the 25th of August is the ski trip and I am really excited about the ski trip because I have never seen snow before.

Pink shirt day

On friday it was pink shirt day. The pink shirts mean anti-bullying. Some of the boys were dressed in pink dresses. I was dressed in a pink T-shirt and a pink skirt my friend Indi was wearing a pink hula skirt and pink afro wig. Pink shirt day was so much fun.

Today in class we have been learning about smilies and how to use them in our writing. I created a DLO ( Digital Learning Object ). This is what we did, 1. we were given some pictures from the internet, 2. we had to find  pick two pictures and write smilies about them.

This term our theme is Up,up and away. That means we are learning about science. We did an experiment  where we had to taste baking soda and vinegar yuck! We mixed them together and recorded and what happened.

B E G I N N I N G	TITLE	yuk and yum
	QUESTION.	If we mix vinegar and baking soda what would the reaction?
	THESIS.	Vinegar tastes sour and it is a liquid. Baking soda is solid,soft white powder and it tastes salty and horrible .they are both  food substances but based on their different taste ,they must be chemically different . so if they are mixed together,there might be a chemical reaction
	HYPOTHESIS.	We predict that when we mix vinegar with baking soda an observable  chemical reaction will occur . we might see and hear an explosion ,fire,foaming,bubbles .fizzing or something else . the resulting mixture might look and taste different . there might even be a difference in size of materials

M I D D L E	EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS:	Half teaspoon baking soda Vinegar Container for mixing Teaspoon for mixing
	PROCEDURE	Step 1: pour some vinegar into a container to depth of about 2cm Step 2: use  a teaspoon to measure in half a teaspoon of baking soda. Step 3: mix with a teaspoon. Step 4: Observe and record what happens.
	OBSERVATIONS:	At step 2 the mixture started to fizz. A fizzing sound was heard,bubbles were seen to appear in the mixture and the materials rose higher in the container. At step 3,when the materials were mixed even more bubbles appeared and the volume of the materials in the container rose even higher.when the mixture was tasted the taste was unpleasant and was similar to the baking soda

ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION

The goal of this experiment was to see if an observable reaction would take place  when vinegar  and baking soda were mixed together . the result of our experiment proves that our hypothesis was  correct we predicted that there would be an observable reaction ,  and there was. There was lots of foaming and fizzing happening and bubbles appeared which means a gas must have been produced. A quick check online showed us that the gas was carbon dioxide.

                                     Big cats

What is the point in killing our biggest cats? Just for the skin? It might make you rich but still. Poaching leads to extinction and extinction means that they don’t get a chance to live a full and happy life

Firstly, I believe when you poach our big cats there are less and less and one day you’ll wipe out a whole species of big cat. I believe the fastest animals in the world are going extinct and they’re cheetahs.  I mean it, you’ll wipe out lions,leopards,cheetahs and several more species.

If one species goes extinct, it has a flow on effect to other species. Animals are part of a food chain and if you effect the food chain some other animals might die too.

Finally I believe our big cats should live because there is really no point in killing big cats just to make a handbag or a coat or a mat. When they are alive, they can amaze tourists, they can reproduce to add more cats to the wild. Big

cats are much better alive than dead!

So are you with me or not? Because big cats  deserve a  better life than being killed and turned into a handbag I think tourists would really like to see a big cat but if there are no big cats then the poachers are to blame. But just remember once there are no big cats there are no other animals to complete the food chain

Onesie Day

Today we had an animal onesie  day because we are fundraising for the year 1 and 2 zoo trip. Our group dressed up as humans. Humans are part of the ape family.
